Do you know why golf balls have dimples?

It's a great fun activity for kids during the school holiday. There are few activities for the kids to have a hand on experience. My girl likes to experience on every activity, the one she likes more is the mini golfing or what they call mini putting green.

Do you know why the golf balls have dimples? This question never ever cross my mind until I read the little note book provided at the carnival.

It said, when air flows around a round ball, it tends to flow more smoothly around the first half of the ball, but creates instability as it continues its flows behind the ball. This instability show the ball down and shortens its flight.

When the surface of the ball is dimpled, air flowing around the ball becomes more stable. The dimples allow the air to flow smoother, so there is less drag and the ball flies farther.

The dimples also effect the golf ball's spin. With the golf club's angled shape, a hit will cause the ball to backspin, and lifts it up. The dimples further lift the ball up, due to the air caught on top of the ball. That explains why golf balls have dimples.

There are other activities such as checking out your BMI, do you know how to count your body mass index? it's your weight (kg) divide by height x height.

It a risk of developing heart disease and diabetes if your BMI is 23 and above.

Knowing your BMI will give you an early warning to take action to lower your weight to reduce your risk and to seek medical advice if your BMI exceeds 23. (Source from hpb)

There is also a test of how high can you jump, how springy are you, what's your grip, how's your balance and how fast are you. All can be tested using tools provided at the carnival. (for more info science)

Timezone Fun

It's our first time taking picture at the timezone instant kawaii photo machine. It took us a while to work out how it works.

My daughter enjoyed taking the photo, she even made her own pose. Glad she likes it.

After taking the photos we are given sometimes to make decoration from the monitor at the outer machine, so many decorations symbols can be used, we dont have enough time to choose, never mind we still have some balance left on our timezone card, can go for the second time, I am sure second time will be better!

13 November World's kindness day!

Today the 13th November 2009 is world's kindness day. I believe every human being has the kind heart within since they are born. It's just that everyone has been busy with their everyday life, sometimes we forgot to do somethings more meaningful and can benefit others. Free Photos Taken By Professional

Few days ago, I received a call from someone who offered me if I want to take studio photos which I will be given about 50 free photos after the shooting. And I could bring my family along, so I told myself why not, since it's free and we also haven't got any nice family pictures taken. So I made appointment with them during the weekend.

The day came, we went for the photo shooting. First, choose our outfit, hair do and put on make-up by the staff. Taking an hour for my hair alone, I didn't like the make-up on my face, looks fierce and very strong.

Shooting time, we did enjoy a little. After that we were invited to another room to take a look at our photos. I thought we can go to choose photos to bring home, I already knew this is a tactic to bring customers. So they shown us how to amend the photos using photoshop and offering us packages and offers if we want to buy or not. At the end we only got one photo in a cd.

Thought to myself, what a waste of time. Luckily, my hubby took some photos for my little Callys using his hand phone.

Check out the photos after adding background image. Cool right? Luckily we never signed up any package, because with the advance of free Internet service, I could make photos even more interesting, nice and cool to look at even an ugly photos can become pretty.

HongKong Disney Land Night View

Have you been to Hong Kong Disney Land? Personally I havent been there, maybe u will say I am pretty outdated.... As outdated me, never been to Disney Land before...I do have photos to share with you tough. Very nice pictures taken at night....the night light, night view, look alive and as ever been there to see it myself.
