I have to read for my little one every night, sometimes she will request for extra story book. She loves to go to the library, the moment she steps in, she will go search for her favourite books and pull out from the selves until she couldn't carry them, then she will seat down to browse every book. She also loves to go Popular bookshop.

Remembering the first book she had, it was just pictures and colour book. Picture illustration actually interpret everything words can say. Pictures also give ideas to the kids of what it is (the picture of the story is). Now, she has her own library, I got her a book shelves specially for her collection of magazines and books.

Learning Phonics with Super Why

Studying in Singapore can be quite stressful sometimes, I think the kids arent stress but the moms who will be.

I dont want to bring stressful education to my daughter, just withdrawn her from her piano lessons because she didnt like to practice, maybe she hasnt got the talent in it.

She has another lesson outside school which is phonics, she likes it very much, cant wait to go every week, that's the spirit I want from her, if she likes it I will let her continue if not I dont want to force her either. I think that's the healthy way of learning as she is only in K1.

Last Friday was Good Friday and it was an off day for my daughter, didnt bring her out as the weather wasnt aloud, so I let her play with my computer. She was so on the tv show "super why" because inside got a Princess Presto, her favourites character 'princess'. I let her play the game of 'spectacular sounds bingo' she can do it well, as she has learned from her phonics class. Not bad for practicing sounds.

School Holiday Has Over

A week's school holiday has finally over. Everyone has to go back to stressful or fun school? I have no idea.....

I took my daughter to school this morning, she doesn't seem to be happy, after all the holiday fun has over, cant staying in bed till 11am anymore. I saw her sad face with tears, she took out her handkerchief from her pocket, wiping her tears sadly, my heart really aches.

I heard one little girl crying out loud in another classroom, doesn't want to enter the room. I thought, my daughter might have heard that crying, making her a bit scared to be far away from mom one morw time.

Because after her class ended, I asked if she was having fun at school, she responded a 'yes' that made me a bit relax. I knew she loves to go to school.

Today 23 Jan '09, last day to go school before CNY.
My little Callys is having CNY celebration @ PCF nursery school. Everyone kid is encourage to wear traditional clothes according to the season celebration. Luckily I bought her a new qipao ^o^ Just check out the photos then you will know what is qipao.

After school, she saw me, she received HongPao fom teacher, and other snacks. They also sing kong xi fa cai song. Today's class only last for one and half hour.

1st School Project - Reuse Shoe Box

My little princess's 1st school project 'Decorating Shoe Box'. I think this idea is great. First, it teaches the kids on how to reuse or recycle the shoe box. Secondly, working together with parents can bring the kids closer to their family. Last but not least, the kids can learn working as a team with parents.

For my little Callys, I will do all the cutting and she will do the pasting with her daddy. This way everyone has something to do.

After the box has been decorated, it will be used to store some of the craft work at school, so everyone has their own box to store their stuff.

Today she brings to school the shoe box, I show many there are many great work from other kids. Some with carrier, some just wrapped with nice gift paper, there is one looks like car with 4 wheels. As parent, I really earned some great ideas from others work. If you have creativity and ideas, you will make a great reusable shoe box, really great to learn how to recycle things around us.

I think I can learn a lot more in the future with my little Callys, because during my time at school, where got such activities? Only theory and theory ha ha

2nd Day To Music Wonderland

Today is the 2nd day to Yamaha music school. I am surprised my darling EnEn keep asking if she is going to music school soon.

Because her class starts at 3pm, after lunch she already asking me if we are going to see miss Leong. I admit her teacher miss Leong is nice and talk gently in the class, maybe that's why my little Callys likes her better then her nursery school teacher.

Just glad she enjoys her music today. She can follow well as the teacher asked.

1st Week At School

It has been a week after school started on the 2nd of January'09. My worry at last over. My darling EnEn at last enjoying her school.

The 1st 3 days were orientation days 2nd, 5th and 6th), I was with her in the class, so she was fine.

The 4rd day, no parents / guardians can accompany the kids, the crying sound was everywhere from every class, including my darling EnEn. She didn't want to go in the class herself, I took her in until teacher ready to take over her, the minute she saw me out, she screamed for mummy and mummy, I turn around seeing her face crying for me, my heart ache, but I have no choice but to leave her. Amazingly, after school I asked, how's school? She told me it was fun, and she said she will come again tomorrow. But I was still worry as she was forced in the class, she might not be willing to go in herself again the next day.

My worry was real, she didn't want to wake up and get ready to school. She kept saying, mummy accompany her in the class. I said ok ok. I knew it wasn't right to lie, but I have to bring her out first, if not she will be late to school already. The 5th day, I took her into the class again, she kept holding on my hand, and seeing her cried again.

This morning, every was fined, she went to the class herself, no crying, not saying anything about scared. I was glad, at last my darling excited to go to school already.

As her school starts at 8am, she has to wake up around 7 or 7.15am, and 3 hours of class, now she is having nap everyday. Just like normal toddler, go to school, taking nap and drinking milk. Now I can manage to have more of my own time, so glad.

Yamaha Music School

I have heard about children's growing and development's best period is after born until 6 year of age. If we teach and groom them during these periods, they can follow well and learn well compare to older kids.

It's not being kiasu or what, but it's really for the better of our daughter, we decided to register our darling EnEn to attend Yamaha Music Wonderland (for 3 years 6 months - 3 years 11 months kids), to stimulate her brain, and to see if she really likes music. As all these while she enjoys music a lot.

Course fee: $240.75 per 3 months (Weekday Lessons)
$272.85 per 3 months (Weekend Lessons)
Registration fee: $21.40

Material fee: $76.15 (consists of 1 Music Wonderland text book, Musical ToyBox, stickers and 1 Music Wonderland CD

I registered her for 3 months course, see if she likes it and how she will react to it. If not very good, I might want to put her into ballet class after 3 months of Music Wonderland.

Today, she attended her 1st class, parent is allowed to accompany the kid in the class for the whole term. From what I see, the music class is not bad, the music is great. I have to see few more times if my darling EnEn enjoys the music or not. As the class duration is only 45mins, once a week, so I have to let her goes few more times in order to see her development.
